Funny Art from High School

While going through and reordering some of my papers and things I found some drawings of a character I invented in high school.

(Drawing for a French Club fundraiser. My love of pie and languages goes back to the beginning.)

(I always thought the figure balancing on the hand was a bird.)

(These guys are on the photocopy from the Pharmer's Almanac.)

Silver Buckle Press Summer Seminar/Co-workers

I've been occupied recently with several projects. One is the Silver Buckle Press Summer Seminar. We have been working on fixing up, printing and learning about hand printing on a tabletop press. The press we are using, a Golding Official, was made in 1884! Below are some action shots. I also thought this would be a good time to post pictures of my co-workers who make my work-life so pleasant (Dan Joe, Senior Graphic Designer; Tracy Honn, Senior Artist/Director of SBP, Don Johnson, Senior Editor).

(Dan and I working on some mechanics and adjusting tension to the printing arm. We are both usually this happy at work.)

(Tracy, Don and I laughing about a printing pun Don must have slipped into the conversation. We are usually this silly at work.)

Plans for the Future

Today, my birthday, is a good day for me to blog about the future. I made some short term plans for it!

I will be working at the Silver Buckle Press until the end of the Summer. From Madison, I will move to Portland to teach book arts at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. I am slightly hesitant about my decision, as I will be there for a year of only light teaching/sabbatical replacement. There are many things I am not yet accounting for here, in this equation, which could greatly effect my Oregon residency, but it is assured that I will make the most of it.
