And Another Thing

I think I'm on to something too.

Heavier Things

I'm sick. Rodrigo said when you're sick it means you are actually sad; that's what they told him in Mexico. I think he's on to something.

Travel Comparison

(Before and after of the catch-all)

(Two car interiors, note the shot glass in my glove box and my collection of fire starting paraphernalia: lighters, rocks and waxy chapstick)

Driving Time

(Concentrating and driving somewhere after Detroit and before Madison)

I went to Michigan and Wisconsin. The good times flowed like wine (with a touch of tequila). There were lots of friends. There was even a bike ride, some shopping, lessons in art making, and lots of good food. The Midwest is a happy place. Today, I returned to Plattsburgh. The return trip was faster (let that be a lesson for anyone driving through Toronto during the Friday, post-work rush hour). Below are a few more photos from the trip.

(Cool place I slept)

(Nikki in her studio at Madison)

(London, Ontario, the only place it was grey or snowing on my drive)

(Bridge from Canada to New York State/Akwasasne St. Regis Reservation)

(New York State Route 374/celebratory fiery pink sunset to welcome me)

Many Nights, And Days--Oh So Many Days!

After falling into the routine of teaching EVERY DAY (5 classes!), slipping in moments attempting to make my own art, go to the gym, yoga, reading, breathing, I have decided to take a irrational trip to the Midwest. I still don't know where I am staying (or going exactly), although hopefully on the couches of friends'.

I guess tomorrow morning I will get into my car, fill it up and start westward. I hear there's a party just outside of Dee-troit.

I feel the urge to do this now, before the weight and unspontaneity of age (?) (responsibility, rootedness, etc) demotivate me. That and Chile is more than a spontaneous drive away. I think about these things a lot.
